So it is month three of unemployment and I must say that I haven’t stopped or slowed down one bit! I have been keeping myself busy by exercising more than I think I have in a long time. I managed to go to kickboxing on Tuesday night, then woke up this morning for a little bit of cycling action. I also attend yoga classes 3-4 times a week. The yoga classes are my favorite because they not only build outer strength, but also focus on empowering the mind. The more I go to yoga, the less complex my life seems to be; I feel like I can get through anything after I leave my yoga classes.
The other day my yoga instructor assigned a task for us: to go a whole 24 hours walking in Namaste. Namaste has many meanings to different people, but the basic concept is that “the divine in me recognizes the divine in you.” Walking in Namaste meant that we were to walk with confidence, without feeling hurried, like we were of the divine.
First, I treated to my physical needs by sleeping in later than I would any other day of the week. Then I bought myself waffles with berries for breakfast. Eating waffles covered with berries and a little whip-cream will make any lady feel like royalty….if only I could have found someone to serve them to me in bed…
Later that evening, I was scheduled to join friends for a birthday dinner. I wanted to look as good as I felt. I went home to pamper myself by taking an extra long shower; taking the time to straighten my wild curly hair. I decided to burn my favorite candle that I was “saving for a special occassion” because after-all, every day is a special occasion and should be worth celebrating. I slipped into a red top, black pants, and oh…some cute little black heels. 😉 It is amazing how a little detail such as heels adds a whole new level of confidence to a lady and I think that is why we so often wear them.
Carrying myself like I was divine and being able to put off any negative thoughts or feelings was the most liberating thing I could do for myself. I went the whole night in a great mood, smiling and laughing and enjoying the company of my good friends. I was able to do this by leaving my old thoughts behind and putting myself in a new state of thinking that is Namaste.
“I honor the place in you in which the entire Universe dwells, I honor the place in you which is of Love, of Integrity, of Wisdom and of Peace. When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, we are One.”
