Persistance

All good things come to those who wait? Well, kind of but it’s more than just sitting around waiting and wishing for things to happen.

If you want something bad enough, you have to be willing and able to make it happen. First, you need to have a desire, passion, or goal.  After you have established this need or want, outline the things you must do to obtain it, then begin taking the steps.  The most important step in the process is to never give up. Always keep your goal in mind and be patient if it doesn’t come right away; some things take time.

After touring a local company for my management class, I knew that I wanted a job there. I was passionate about the same things the company stood for and I knew I was a good fit.  Unfortunately they were not hiring at the time, but I didn’t let that stop me from letting them know how bad I wanted the job.

I contacted the HR rep on a consistent basis, I sent in my resume, and I called back in the spring.  The HR manager knew I wanted a job and that I would do anything to get an opportunity.  She called me later in the Summer and offered me an interview.  I went through a series of 3 interviews before I recieved a call that I was not the chosen candidate.  I was crushed.

A few days after my depressing news,  I went out on another job hunt. I was  beginning to settle with the fact that I may not see a position for quite some time with the company I loved so much.  As I was interviewing for a serving position at a local restaraunt,  a message was being left on my phone. This message was from the manager at the company I had originally interviewed with.  They were offering another position and wanted to start me right away.

I was estatic! I couldn’t wait to call all of my friends. Not giving up definitely paid off in the end. Through perserverance and persistance I was able to obtain the “job of my dreams,” for now at least….
